After weeks of researching other cars (inc. kizashi, civic, elantra touring), I ended up coming back to it. It seems like a solid car for someone who's going to be hitting a lot of cons--great cargo space, great gas mileage. I should save a lot of money on airfare and shipping expenses (shirts and booth supplies). It cost a bit more, but I went with the Fit Sport because it has cruise control. I'm pretty happy the decision on the whole. The test drive was great and the price was right. The salesman at the Honda dealership was great to work with, but seriously guys, be careful about the finance & loan people. I was asked to sign a contract with tentative numbers that said in huge letters that the buyer should not sign the contract without keeping a copy. I was told that I'd have to sign the real contract once the banks got him the final numbers, and that I would not be receiving a copy of the document in front of me. I was told signing the contract in front of me was a show of good faith, and that I would not be allowed to take a copy with me for my reference. I said that the down payment check was the show of good faith, and that I would sign only what I was allowed to keep a copy of. He took the contract back, and packed it and several more unsigned documents back into their envelope. Every single part of working with this dealership has been great, except this one guy. I mean, I'm still really happy about owning the car and all, but after watching me read five other documents in full before signing each them, why the hell would this guy think that I'd ignore a huge GET A COPY OF THIS CONTRACT AFTER SIGNING. DO NOT LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT IT warning? Why pressure me to sign something with tentative numbers anyway? Caveat emptor.
